i think u are probably talking about pentium 4's lets see..
the 2.8 dual core could be the 8xx series or 9xx series both of those has 2 seperate cores on one die so it would have to go thru the 800 mhz front side bus to communicate between cores.
the 3.06 ht is a single core that can mutitask with the use of a virtual core with something known as hyper-threading but it has a front side bus of 533mhz
so i would go with the 2.8 dual core processor

The dual core unit will dance circles around the single core HT.
Home use includes a great deal of multimedia, such as video capture & editing. A dual core processor better allows you to work on other tasks while rendering large video projects.
It offers TRUE multitasking ability.
Absolutely no contest .... not even close.

The HT is more of an emulation so I would expect better performance from the 2.8 dual-core. You might check http://www.tomshardware.com for reviews and actual benchmarks.

Dual Core.
2 Cores are always better than one.

in practical use u would be hard pressed to tell the difference but i would say the dualcore would be able to handle more things at once without bogging down the system ... the actual clockspeeds are a negligable difference .. if you had two pcs side by side with the two processors the other factors like memory type and speed and harddrive speed would make more of a difference in felt speed ....

2.8 dual core. It's not even close.
The new dual cores have superior "architecture" and are very fast.
