as long as the harddrive is ok then yes..it will take another computer to retrieve using the harddrive like an external drive and also something like this: http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/review/usb_2_0_to_ide_cable_version_2 . if the drive is gone all bets are off unless you have some big bucks to pay a professional.

It depends. If something besides the hard drive itself went bad, then you may just need to remove the hard drive, buy an external USB drive enclosure, and plug the external drive into another PC. Don't buy a whole new external drive, just the enclosure. Should cost around 50 bucks.

If the drive itself went bad, then you have to take it to a professional data recovery service.

The problem is, it may be difficult to determine what went bad. Pay close attention to any error messages you get on startup, write them down and search the internet for them (on another computer of course).

Yes. So long as the hard drive is not physically damaged.

Just install the hard drive on another PC (as slave) to retrieve your music files.
