The best way is through a UPS because it conditions the line. Meaning that it will keep it at the correct voltage while it is working. Thus you avoid the spikes, brownouts, blackouts (depending on length), voltage drops, etc. A voltage drop can actually cause your HD to write in a way that renders the info useless and maybe your drive unaccessible. Another advantage... depending on company is that they while stop a lightning strike, plugging direct stops none of these and the last one is always fatal to your system.

I am not really sure as to what you are asking so I am going to take a wild guess. If you are asking whether its ok to plug your computer directly into a wall socket I would say yes. Just hope you never get any bad weather such as lightning because you could get a power surge and the computer could possibly get permanently damaged. So get a surge protector. That will protect you from most power surges and you can plug other electrical devices to it. I hope that answers your question.

yes it protects from surges cause all the surges can ruin the hardware in your computer
