Hardware - March 2007

My laptop works fine for about 15 minutes and then the fan will start to blow very loudly and only stops once I turn it off. I don't want to pay $$$$$. Is this something I can fix myself?

I can turn it on but nothing is displayed on the screen. It's just black. I can hear the fans and a yellow light turns on but that's it. Can you help me?

I have an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600. When I hook up a monitor, the display is perfect. However, when I hook up a TV using the composite video input, I get many lines moving bottom-to-top through my display. My TV only shows these lines when I have the computer display running to it. I'm sure that it it a resolution issue, but I don't know what to use? What refresh rate should I use? I have a Panasonic TAU 27". Any help? Thanks in advance.

How do you know if your ink cartidge is out? My printer has a line running through the black on the words of my documents that I print but hte color is fine. Am I running out of ink or can it be fixed through the control panel?

For instance: I set it to print page 2 of my document and it prints the first page or the last page. I have never had this problem before. I want the first page to have no header, and headers on pages 2-14. Sometimes it just keeps printing the first page. Does anyone know what might be the problem here? Thanks

What I'm looking for is something fast and clean that won't quickly run out of ink at a very reasonable price. I mean I'm not even really looking to spend 100 bucks. I need to print 500 or so black and white pages, and will potentially never even need color capabilities. Any suggestions? Cheaper the better.
