Hardware - March 2007

My current laptop BenQ Joybook 5100 has 512MB ram installed. It consists of 2x256MB modules.
On both of them it lists:
Infineon, PC2700, 256MB, DDR, 333, CL2.5
and another:
Kingston, KVR333X64SC2.5/256 2.5V

From the existing modules, I can see that it is 200-pin SO-DIMM DDR 333MHz.

I'll like to upgrade to perhaps 1GB, can I install other modules that is running DDR 400MHz?

It doesn't matter if the modules end up running at 333MHz rather than 400MHz. As my main concern is that I'm not sure if the DDR 400MHz would work in my laptop.

I've had my computer monitor for about two years. It is an emachines 17 inch monitor. Just today the image started to shake once in a while. I'd say about every 10-15 seconds the image becomes blurry, like an out of Tune TV reception, for about a quarter of a second. How can I fix this? Is my monitor suddenly bad or is it something with my software? I am running Windows XP.

I use my computer as my DVD player and recently I had just finished watching a movie and put another one in and now it will not run smoothly, both video and audio. It isn't the DVD because I have tried several of the ones I have and now none of them run smoothly. It is not the program because I have tried using 2 different programs to play them with no luck (windows media and hp dvd player). I got my computer for Christmas so it is very new and has lots of space on it still. It will play audio CD's with no problem! Help me please. Is it possible the reader is dirty or has been displaced a tad? If so how can i fix that? I use my computer a lot to watch DVD's so I'm hurting here!

HI, my printer is a brother MFC -3220C. my paper is due tomorrow but it wont print anything out. Instead it says PLEASE OPEN COVER but when i open it, it say PLEASE CLOSE COVERwhat should i do? Please help!!!

I'm in a situation where I might have the ability to buy several used computers. What is the best way to check to make sure everything is functioning properly assuming the operating system is Windows XP? If there are several ways, what is the quickest and what is the best? I'd like to know the quickest because I want to be able to run some kind of diagnostics check on the spot before I buy it. I want to know the best way, so I can know everything is okay before reselling it.

I have a document that is 24X36. I created it on Photoshop, and when I want to print it, it won't print anything outside the 8X11 peice of paper. Is there any way to make it print the whole picture at actual size so that I may piece it together after printing?

My Toshiba Satellite 2435 has a 32MB NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go graphics card, which is way underpowered compared with the rest of the system. Can I upgrade the card?

If so, what card would you recommend? I'm thinking 128MB would work well with the 2.4GHz Pentium 4.

I connect to the internet wirelessly.
Before i had a wireless keyboard and mouse and i could tell the difference in performance compared to a wired one which i currently use. So, I would like to try a bluetooth mouse instead.

I just recently upgraded my computer and i am now unable to start Windows XP. My computer boots up fine but then it gives me an error saying that it is unable to start Windows.
I am currently on my second computer.

These are the things i upgraded:
Motherboard
Processor
RAM
Graphics Card
Power Supply

Does anyone know an error in the hardware setup that would cause my computer to boot but not run Windows?
