I use my computer as my DVD player and recently I had just finished watching a movie and put another one in and now it will not run smoothly, both video and audio. It isn't the DVD because I have tried several of the ones I have and now none of them run smoothly. It is not the program because I have tried using 2 different programs to play them with no luck (windows media and hp dvd player). I got my computer for Christmas so it is very new and has lots of space on it still. It will play audio CD's with no problem! Help me please. Is it possible the reader is dirty or has been displaced a tad? If so how can i fix that? I use my computer a lot to watch DVD's so I'm hurting here!

Hey, I have the same problem with mine! I have a dell though that I got for christmas. The video and audio are choppy when I use Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player. I found that the Dell Media Direct will still play dvd's smoothly though. So if you have a dell try that!

OK personally this does not sound like your DVD lens is dirty since you said audio CD no prob. Sounds to me like your drivers might be messed up. You might try a reinstall of WMP and if still no luck then I would suggest the lens clean route. Lastly you might want to run a system restore to get back to manufacturer state.

"Please insert disc into 'T' force???? Are you operating some digital disc drives contained in the workstation? i'd've theory that the optical force will be 'D' force ( or E or F,G,H in spite of in case you had better than one demanding force contained in the workstation.) try this, click commence, accurate click workstation or My workstation, click houses then click gadget manager. click the get accurate of entry to for DVD/CD ROM drives. accurate click the get accurate of entry to for the DVD force and click Uninstall Restart the workstation and enable this is detected and put in back. If that do not restoration it then the force is possibly lifeless or the skill connector or IDE ribbon is defective or no longer linked proper. Or, its the IDE contollers. try a gadget restoration to a pair of days in the past
