Hi is it better to use 2 hard drives one for data and the other for operating system incase you have a virus it would not affect the data drive. OR if I use one hard drive and have 2 partitions on there which is OS and data, would the virus affect the data on the same hard drive? Thanks let me know.

I have windws xp on my laptop and while doing the disk clean up I by mistake chcked all the boxes as a result the color resolu\tion has changd to a low of 8. I think I may have deleted some of the drivers .How can I Restore my original color.I do not have any of the driver cd`s with me.Please help

My laptop crashed and i am wondering if there is a slim possibility to retrieve files on it, if so, how would i go about it?
This is the second time its happened and I was told it was a RAM prob, so i purchased more RAM.
I was in the middle of an application and it just froze and when i switched it off and on, it just wont go again.
Another tech said its gone, but is it really? can anything be salvaged?
i had saved some family photo's which i intended to copy onto a disk and dont have a backup of them anymore other than what was copied on the HD
Is there any way whatsoever to retrieve them?

Please help ;(

...pci card on my computer. It is SOOOO slow at defragging and also when I transfer files from internal drives to it , it takes and AGE. If I buy a USB 2.0 pci card and connect the External Drive to it , will this speed things up ? On the box the External Drive says it can get speeds upto 480MB but right now im only getting a brain numbing 10 to 20MB. Any reply's/advice is most welcomed. Thanks!

I bought the Western Digital SATA hard drive today. I tried installing it but not only does the Dell Dimension 3000 need me to purchase an additional bracket to put the actual hard drive in, I'm guessing it needs some kind of SATA ports AND more things? Can anyone give me a list of things I will need to buy so I can install the second hard drive? Help!

The line is 3cms wide and inset about a third of the way from the left edge of the screen and shows on all video inputs. When the monitor is turned off for a while and turned back on it initially shows up in white before eventually turning black. I spoke to specialist engineer briefly who said it would require a screen replacement costing as much as a new monitor (ie £1500). However I suspect this may just need a card replacing. Am I right and how much should I expect to pay? I would rather not pay a call out fee if the monitor is a right-off.

i bought my laptop in 2004. and it's still under warranty. i bought it at best buy. can i take my laptop to best buy to upgrade it for free since it's under warranty. one example is online gaming. i want to play counter strike on my laptop without no lag since it does on my lappy as it is now. and besides i don't want to play counter strike on my dad's computer, since he doesn't like it. please help me out!

My add-ons are off and dont work anymore on my Internet Explorer and i can't turn it back on. (Im currently running the latest IE) Does anyone know how i can turn it on?

When I try to open any software (like windows media player), the computer can only work for like 10 mins or so, then it suddenly freeze and stop operating (the light stops flashing, too) When I restart the computer, it says " no bootable device". Can anyone help me fix it ? thx here first

P.S If I wait for like 20 mins before I restart, the comp will be able to start windows, but things still the same when I try to open any software.
