What I'm looking for is something fast and clean that won't quickly run out of ink at a very reasonable price. I mean I'm not even really looking to spend 100 bucks. I need to print 500 or so black and white pages, and will potentially never even need color capabilities. Any suggestions? Cheaper the better.

Get a cheap laser b&w printer. It has the lowest cost per page which saves money over the long run. Try BizRate.com or Yahoo! Shopping to find the best price. I've seen them as low as $35 for a refurbished one.

Well, inkjet will serve you but the cartridges are a lot. Laser is more expensive, but you can get thousands of sheets out of a cartridge.
