i am looking at buying a laptop for college. is this computer a good one, officemax has it on sale. HP Pavilion dv9205US 17" Notebook PC

i can't turn it on or get it to do anything! lol it's plugged into the USB port but it doesn't turn on.

I have a dell dimension 3000 with a 2.4 ghz celeron that I am looking ot upgrade. it has 2 pieces of 256 MB ddr pc2700 for a total of 512 MB. Only two slots. Will I see a speed boost if I install 1GB of PC2100.

Dell 3000

pci nvidia mx4000 128 MB
SB Live 24 bit pci sound

I have a 17 inch flatscreen monitor and I find that it radiates too much light. I am always squinting because of it especially in the evening when the surroundings are darker.
I have tried to adjust the contrast and so on, but it is not helping. the light level remains the same and I really want it less. can anyone tell me how to do that? I have windows xp sp2

i have a computer, and it's a windows 98. if i put a cd in the cd rom drive it wont read the disc. or play it. what's wrong with it? it says the device is working properly, and everything is hooked up right.

I currently have a few computers within 5-6 feet of each other, all using Logitech wireless mice. The problem is, moving any one of these mice causes all of the others nearby to be "frozen out" until you stop moving it. Even though the select buttons on the dongle allow us to keep each mouse and computer paired up, no two can be used simultaneously.

I remember that years ago, Microsoft's earliest wireless mouse had a channel selection switch on the bottom that allowed 2 wireless mice to operate without stepping on each other (channel 1 and 2). But that was only two channels, and sometimes mouse movements from 8-10 feet away would "stray" to a 3rd computer (on the same channel)

Is there anything available that might work for 4 computers in close proximity to each other? My assistant sometimes sits at the desk next to me; we both need to work simultaneously without locking out each other's mouse... Is that possible with wireless mice in this day and age?

i would think that there is a way to use pci cards from desktops, with laptops. like a cable that has a connection for a card, and then goes to either usb, firewire, or the card slot. i have a high-end soundcard with a breakout box, and i really want to use it with my laptop...

So i just installed windows vista ultimate and it is a little bit of a cpu hog of course! and it is kinda laggy to often for me :) my current setup surpasses such things like counter strike source and half life and battle field 2. But some people said that my cpu will enhance vista greatly. currently i have a AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 San Diego 2.6GHz Socket 939 Processor and what thinking about upgrading to a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Windsor 2.6GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor.

What are your thoughts will it really help a ton? i have 2 gig of memory and thinking about adding another 2 gig and i am running EVGA 256-P2-N528-AX GeForce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card. Any thoughts?

I have 2 power cords one going from monitor and other from cpu , I joined both in an extension and its main plug going in main circuit of my room, but when I switch on, monitor starts , and it forces me to switch cpu manually from its button, tell me how to switch both by one button i.e my main switch of my room

My PC shutsdown itself every five minutes. Upon restarting, I get message that shutdown was due to processor overheating. The BIOS reads processor temperature of around 50C everytime before shutdown. The processor is intel 3.0 P4. Is it really an overheating?

I can change the font size on the e-mail page, but it still prints out a smaller size. I find nowhere to change the size so that it prints out a larger size font. I'm talking about the size of the letters in the words on the page.

i have sonic my DVD pluse, itunes, realplayer, interactual, quicktime, winmdows media player, view point media player, audacity...what the hell

only ones i use are interactual some times and usually audacity and microsoft media player are the main ones.
