My PC shutsdown itself every five minutes. Upon restarting, I get message that shutdown was due to processor overheating. The BIOS reads processor temperature of around 50C everytime before shutdown. The processor is intel 3.0 P4. Is it really an overheating?

You might want to check fans and heatsinks before you fry your cpu. You might also want to check the settings in the bios. Typically a setting of 70c for overheating is good. If you set it too low, (like if you really have it set to 50c) that's a little too low. Typical temps on a cpu is 40c-50c.

Hi. Answer 1 is correct. Clean all fans and intake ports, filters, etc. Blow out any dust underneath the CPU fan.
