Check the batteries in your wireless device that supposed to communicate with the receiver-not the receiver itself, that usually doesn't have 'em.

Try powering down and unplugging your computer. Then start it up with the receiver plugged in to a USB port.

Finally, check for a "connect" button on the receiver itself, sometimes you need to hit that button to put the receiver into a mode to search for devices. After that, press a similar button (usually on the bottom) of your wireless mouse or keyboard, then move the mouse or hit a few keys- that should start things communicating.

The receiver has two AAA batteries in it. Replace them.
