As long as your motherboard is capable of holding 256MB in a slot, then you will be able to this. Each slot can have a different amount of memory.
I have one older computer that will only recognize 128MB or smaller DIMMs, even though larger amounts are available.

They don't have to be the same MB rating, but they do have to be the same TYPE of RAM in order to function correctly. To see what type of RAM you need, visit the Crucial website at the below link and have that site tell you by using their search tool.

Nope, they don't have to be the same capacity. Just remember installing new hardware computer can be a a difficult and tedious process. Especially RAM Memory. Just a warning note. :)

Either same or double.
one has 128 next should be 128/256. Otherwise it will just show the total memory but it will not work.
Again, if you want to upgrade it, fix in one RAM remove old one from DIMM 1 and place new one.
