Turn the mouse over and remove the covering for the ball. Take the ball out. You should see a couple of rollers. I'll bet there is an accumulation of crud on them. Gently scrape off all of that crud until the rollers are clean. Replace ball and cover. You mouse should work better now.

Open the little wheel compartment, take the rolling ball out. Gently clean it with a soft cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol. If there is lint inside, gently remove it. This should greatly improve the function of the mouse.

Hi!
Your mouse probably needs to be cleaned.

-Flip the mouse upside down
-Rotate the circular plate holding the ball in, in the direction of the arrows
-Take the ball out
-Make sure the ball is free of any dust or other material
-blow inside the hole where the ball used to be
-Put the ball back in, put the plate back on by turning it in the opposite direction, and you should be good to go!

Hope this helps!

If its a mouse with a ball in it, it could be that its gotten dusty inside and its making the movement sticky. If you take it out and wipe the inside of the mouse and wash the ball, it should be ok (:

In addition to the other answers...look inside for two rollers. There may be lint wrapped around the rollers that detect ball movement. Scratch these with your finger nail, then blow the loose parts of lint and repeat scratching until it's all gone.

Get an optical mouse. They are pretty cheap nowadays and never need cleaning.
