So i just installed windows vista ultimate and it is a little bit of a cpu hog of course! and it is kinda laggy to often for me :) my current setup surpasses such things like counter strike source and half life and battle field 2. But some people said that my cpu will enhance vista greatly. currently i have a AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 San Diego 2.6GHz Socket 939 Processor and what thinking about upgrading to a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Windsor 2.6GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor.

What are your thoughts will it really help a ton? i have 2 gig of memory and thinking about adding another 2 gig and i am running EVGA 256-P2-N528-AX GeForce 7800GTX 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card. Any thoughts?

Hi lyd285,

You will definitely get a boost from the Athalon X2 5200. I will be honest I don't know how much benefit the 2 additional gig of memory will give you. XP kind of maxed out at 2 gig but Vista is such a memory hog it will probable bring something to the plate.

You will certainly have a great system.

The setup you have is pretty good already. But vista does have alot of problems and issues including the geforce drivers for vista. You should have read up on vista first. Newer does NOT mean better.

Get more memory. That is probably a bottleneck that a faster processor won't help.
