Will there be a noticeable difference in speed from 256 to 1gig

Your computer will boot up faster and the memory will hold more applications so after the first time you start an app. (and it puts it into the memory) it will load faster the next time. Overall the PC's performance will improve.

Hi. Sometimes very noticeable. If your computer has to keep moving data from RAM to a page file on your harddrive then the added RAM will minimize this. RAM is 1,000 times faster that your drive. If you only do email or surfing you may not notice much speed increase.

If using Winxp, around 10% increase, if Vista a good 20% increase in speed. In gaming goot 10-20% increase in speed. When programs run out of ram, they use your harddrive as memory, that's a big slow down. Having more memory so the harddrive is NOT used as memory, much faster.

Absolutely. But, you'd better be sure that your computer is capable upgrade to 1 GB of RAM and you use the proper type for your computer.

only thing will make a difference is you will be able to run more applications at once! no speed difference!
