My motherboard has the power but my modem disconnects also my cd drive! and my monitor although has a seperate cable to electricity goes like standby~ help please! thanks very very much

What is the difference in speed processing for 1.66 ghz dual core versus 2.0 ghz dual core. Which hard disk drive speed is better, 4200 rpm or 5400 rpm? Which has better screen resolution for notebooks especially when watching dvd movies, 256mb or 128 mb? Which brand would you recommend for notebooks HP or sony? Based on experience, which notebook is more durable, hp or sony? I have also heard bad experiences with toshioba. The screen conks out in less than a year and when you hvae it checked the real defect is the motherboard. I have 2 acquaintances withe this sad experience. When they had it repaired they were given a run around by toshiba. I was planning to buy a toshiba but after this news I decide to choose between hp and sony.

I just bought my desktop sometime in July. When I used it for the first 2 weeks, it didn't really give me a problem but after a while, it kept restarting. We returned it to the computer shop where we bought it and they changed the hardware to a new one. So I thought that everything was fine but it wouldn't stop restarting. I brought it back to the computer shop and they said that nothings wrong with the computer and that my electrical power was messed up or something thats why my desktop keeps restarting but I don't believe them. What do you think is the problem here?

I got a toshiba laptop last christmas, as so it's ran for a fairly long time. Last night I was using it while charging it up at the same time, then all of a sudden the screen went black and now it wont charge up. I tried unplugging it all and re-plugging it to check if it needed charging, but even the little green light that flashes when the laptop is charging wouldn't work. So my thoughts are that the re-chargable battery has run out, I took it out of the laptop and it said how to remove it, so surely you'd only need to remove it to replace it with another battery... Does this sound plausable? If not what else could the problem be and how do I solve it?

hi everyone. I'm having troubles w/ my Sony Vaio S150. It was overheating and I opened it and took out the heatsink to clean up the dust. It also seemed to have problem w/ the hard disk that I had to tilt the laptop to a certain angle to keep the windows running and if I lay it flat on desk it freezed. So I have also replaced the hard disk.
The problem I've been having before & after I replaced the hard disk is that I HAVE TO KEEP TURNING THE LAPTOP ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES (sometimes more than 30 times) JUST TO BOOT INTO WINDOWS. I powers up but screen shows nothing and the fan is very quiet. No beeps or anything. Turn it off and turn it on again and repeat....... Very annoying....
What could be the cause of this and how can I narrow down the possibilities? Could it be the heatsink that I took out and put back causing it not sitting tight and flat on the CPU? Please tell me that it's not the expensive motherboard...

i am customizing a laptop. which processor should i get?

ok the only disk i will have with any computer is the recovery disk that came with the computer. will that disk do a Clean Install and what is a Clean Install, i dont know that term.

I restart my other computer and get the following message...
windows could not start because the following file i mising or corrupt:
\windows\ytem32\onfig\system

you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the orginal setup CD-rom.
Selet "r" a the first sreen to start repair

and from there it wont load or wont let me go beyond. i inserted the disk already and doesn't do anything, i thought it was the cd but i put it on this computer and does load, why? what do i do? i checked the bios and it says on the boot sequence 'cd rom-not installed', is it because of that? what do i do???
