Note: I caught a glimpse of the hair as I inserted the disc, but when I removed the disc, the hair is gone, probably stuck inside the drive.

Open with a paper clip / blunt end of a pin, with the door open feel underneath and you will notice a rack = ridges on the left and the right side is smooth. Get a cotton bud and put a very small amount of sewing machine oil on it and run it across both sides be careful not to get the oil all over the place!! use a very small amount. It must be sewing machine oil any other oil will be too heavy and give you even more trouble. I think that will fix it. It did for me. If not you may need a new drive.

If it gets wound around the internal moving parts, maybe. Slot loaders are a bit different from tray loaders. Slot loaders "suck" the disc into the drive, a mechanical action.

That hair likely wrapped around one of the mechanically-spinning components of the drive and will cause damage, if not immediately, in the long run.

Most slot loaders I've seen have brushes that clean the disk when it is accepted.

No... the CD moves more than 3600 rpm... at that speed all hairs will fly away... it might be stuck inside the drive.... LOOK AGAIN..
