A clean install is not always necessary, slightly better stability and performance can be expected when XP is installed to a clean hard drive or partition.

Its nothing to do if u want to take the hard drive.

You can install your Hard Drive into another. What's the issue?

Suppose you want to install your Hard Drive into another computer which does not have a Hard Drive then, there's no problem. But, if the other computer has already a Hard Drive, you have to set your Hard Drive as Slave with the help of a Jumper a small black connector which is available at the base of your hard disk.

Then, it should work fine.
