this is my dilemma. I have a linksys wireless router. Xbox 360, desktop and laptop downstairs. The desktop, laptop and xbox all have wireless adapters. I have another desktop that I want to put upstairs. I do not have an adapter for it (yet). I am seeing a NETGEAR FA311 Fast Ethernet Adapter #2 on it. Do I need to go buy another adaptor or is there some other way i can get the internet (upstairs)?

I have old/crappy belkin 'g' router and and I want to use it as an access point for DVR in living room (i'm guessing the Wii can connect to it wirelessly as well for a better connection). currently I use a 35' ethernet cable to connect to linksys router. The cable is too long to work with PS2 and I need something in between. Game adapters don't seem to work well so I guess I'm stuck running an ethernet cable to wireless access point.

ok, can I use the belkin router as a WAP (it has the function built in) with the linksys router? And do I need a crossover cable or standard ethernet?

hello after trying and reading up different solutions; non of them has worked for me. i have two computers on my network a laptop connected wirelessly and my desktop pc wired to the router (using netgear router without any issues). i have established the networking between the two computers so that the windows xp home based laptop can see my computer on the network and can access my shared folders, where as i cannot see anything under my network and i cannot seem to find any other devices connected to the internet at all. if anyone can help i would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I have an Alltel UTStarTech PC5750 notebook card and want to share it in my house with my other devices (xbox360, wii, desktop). I purchased a Kyocera KR1 router but it is not supported any longer. I'm willing to use one of my notebooks as a wireless router, how would I go about that? Doesn't Ad-Hoc only allow for 1 connection? Or is there another router that would work for me? I'm trying to have this be my primary ISP so that I can get away from my Sat. Internet. Thanks to everyone who answers!

I would like to start a business in my local area offering wireless broadband to my customers' customers. Confusing? Let me give you an example:

My client is a hotel. I want to be able to offer wireless broadband to the hotel guests, using their existing broadband.

Customers will log their laptops onto the wireless network, then enter their credit card details, and the system will then let them onto the internet for as long as they have paid for.

I'd like some ideas of how to acheive this result - from an IT standpoint.

I would think I'd need a seperate wireless router, which is set to allow any wireless device to connect. They're then redirected to a page somewhere which collects their CC info, and gives them access, somehow?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

comcast told me:"Our technicians come to your home
to install your network and we will help you support it. This is a huge advantage over a network you install your self as we would be unable to offer any assistance once it was set it up."
HOW do i install my own "network"? I assume this would save me some $$. Am clueless about all of this stuff! thanks
