My best friend and I are roommates in a dorm this fall. I'll probably have a laptop and he'll get a desktop. I'm going to get a wireless router so I don't have to deal with cords. What you guys recommend so that both of us using the router won't slow us down? Thx

The card is the only internet access available at my site and now would like to network 3 computers together to use this to access the web and set up a peer to peer network.
Is this possible with this card.
Speed is an issue but not the most important issue.

I'm in a very populated area, where everything type of internet is offered (fios, dsl, broadband, etc.). I'm just wondering which internet is the best, i was thinking about the verizon fios and tv combo for my house, but is it worth the money, or is there high charges after the first 12 months, kinda thing? anyone with a great answer or opinion would help a lot.

-thanks a ton :]

Getting ready to buy a Linksys WRT150 N wireless router ( $99.99 at circuit city) to use with my new hp pavilion dv6375us laptop.
However I noticed the manual that came with my laptop says it is Intel prowireless 802.11 a, b, g integrated wireless lan. It doesn't say "N"
Will this Linksys WRT150 N router work with this laptop?

I recently purchased a Linksys wireless router, model number WRT54G version 8.0 Yesterday it stopped working for no real reason, i have not updated the software nor done any windows updates that would change my settings. The 4 port lights are lit solid green, as well as the DMZ light. Everything else is off. I tried powering off, and reseting a number of times with no success. I have WEP encryption enabled also. The router is no longer functioning, I can't get an internet connection or a wireless connection. Is there a way to remedy this? Help! =(

I live in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai and our government instructs the ISP to use a proxy server mainly for internet content filtering. So what I want to ask is that is my real IP address hidden? I have a DSL line at home. I typed in 'ipconfig' on Command Prompt and it showed that my IP address is 192.168.254.1 and in a website it showed that my IP is 195.229.241.182 What does this mean? And can i change my IP address?

connection quality? Customer support? etc. Thank you!

P.S. I'm thinking of dropping DSL and going with Netzero, which will save me $30 a month. I don't do enough surfing to worry about any loss of internet speed, and I have high speed internet at work anyway.

I tried using netsh to reset tcp/ip. I re-installed service from nettcpip.inf. I can't seem to get the machine to recognie that it has been issued an IP address from the router.

(I did confirm that the router updates the ip address of the machine in question.)

I have 3 local ip...
192.168.0.224
192.160.0.448
192.168.0.1
I found out that the first two is a switch.
When i go to http://192.168.0.1, a message box prompt for pass?
(similar to the one that pop up when try to access restricted share)
What 192.168.0.1 probably is?
