linksys "N" routers will usually work with older type wireless adapters (backwards compatible).
You just will not have the security of the "n"....but that is not really a big deal considering "G" is usually plenty secure.

Well since the N standard hasn't really been finalized Id go with a G router. The N router will work but it will run as a G anyway.
Since your laptop has "A" support you might even want to consider an A router (less interferance, higher speed, less range -- there is always a trade out.) See this article for more information. http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/columns/article.php/961181
If you dont have alot of interferance around you, get a good G router and roll ahead.. you dont need to spend the extra money on N which you cant really use.

I wonder if you bought a new laptop & it doesn't have 802.11n. why not? The router you are going to buy will perfect with ur laptop. n routers are always compatible with a/b/g wireless. so not to worry about. I think about future, coz technology is changing everyday. may be tommorow they will invent like S routers. then what? we cant throw our old equipments. So dear go for it. If i was in place of you i wud rather change my laptop to N compatible wireless, coz you just bought it & why it has only a/b/g compatibility? If you don't wanna exchange it, even after that the n router you are buying is worth, why? coz you can buy N usb adapter for ur laptop in future(of corse N wireles with N routers performance is best). In your case the N router will work as G router, but remember you can upgarde your laptop with N usb adapter & routers can't be upgraded. Somebody wrote about MIMO, yes it is a great technology, MIMO means Multiple Ins & Multiple Outs. this helps in covering the dead spots in the networking & in internet connection. Means even if the connection is low, it maintains continuity. i think you need MIMO too. So go for it. I will wait for ur reply with the details of its performance. good luck.

The Linksys WRt150N router says it is 802.11n compatible.
It uses MIMO which is a waste if your computer's wireless adapter card is NOT MIMO compatible. Most adapters that come with computer's are NOT.
BTW - the 802.11n standard is only at the DRAFT stage and has not been formalized yet.
Do NOT spend any money on this model.
look at the WRT54G, GS, or GL models instead. You could save about $30 US.

Yes, it will work just fine.
802.11 N is backwards compatible with all previous versions except for 802.11a if I am not mistaken.
As long as your laptop is capable of using 802.11 B or G, then you are fine.

That's too much router for your needs. Get WRT54GS. Plenty.
