I'm in a very populated area, where everything type of internet is offered (fios, dsl, broadband, etc.). I'm just wondering which internet is the best, i was thinking about the verizon fios and tv combo for my house, but is it worth the money, or is there high charges after the first 12 months, kinda thing? anyone with a great answer or opinion would help a lot.

-thanks a ton :]

It really all depends on where you are, current usage in your area and the technology involved in connecting you to the web.

There is no way I can tell you which ones work best in your area.

Try this site: http://www.dslreports.com

They allow people to report broadband performance based on area and provider. You might find your answer there.

In MY area: combo? No! (Let me use "you" as if "you" live here...)

If you're dissatisfied with one service component, you're stuck with a commitment...in other words, ya can't have one without the other...

As for high speed providers: covad!

As for general comments (and if you don't like rants, stop reading here...)

These service rates tick me off. Over a barrel. We went to dsl *only* after our dialup provider rejected (a) an email containing twelve photos as being "too much at once" and (b) an email containing more than 30 addressees - a newsletter to our garden group.

As for "pay TV": I STILL feel, why pay (1) extra for local stations, and (2) money for advertising stations such as the Jewelry Channel, Fashion, Ron Popeil, and the like???

well i have comcast standard cable(49.99) and the faster dsl from verizon. (29.99) if verizon fios is available i would get it. its not available yet in boston and i am waiting for it to come. package deals are a lot cheaper than comcast. usually after a year its going to up anyways but so will the others.you will have the latest technology. go for it. cant wait for it to come here.

what's best for you may not be best for another. you need to pick a plan that suites your needs. no point in having tons of bandwidth if all you really do is surf the net and check email, etc. if you do a lot of heavy downloading then you would need sufficient bandwidth to accomplish that.

you need to check with the service providers in your area and see who offers the best deal for what you need
