I recently bought a laptop and don't know much about computers. The guy I was seeing at the time hooked up the router and got things going for me. He is very computer saavy and has his own web page etc., is there anything he could have done/installed to be able to acess my computer from his? Also, on a private web page, can they see who views it? Thanks for your help!

I have a laptop connected to a BT homebub dsl router. While I am not working it all works fine.

The probelm I have is that I connect to work VPN via a client.
When I am connected to the VPN I am unable to access any local addressess such as the homehub homepage 192.168.x.x or the external hd connected to the Homehub. I can still access the internet and everything.

Is there anyway of specifying for certain addressess not to use the VPN tunnel?

I use Windows XP, laptop is connected via ethernet to the homehub.

Any thoughts?

How can I connect directly to the internet so I don`t have to go through an ISP

OK- you should know what part of that means. My internet won't work, only on my computer, I'm on a laptop that DOES work. Anyway, no- my computer should not be filled up with viruses because it was just restored and back to normal again and it's behaving fine except..THE INTERNET WON'T WORK! It works on every other PC/laptops in the house though!! And it had worked just fine last week!

It has an X on the wireless icon thing, same with the local area connection. the little area on the taskbar. I have the little box thing with the plug and I re-plugged it but nothing worked.

Help? I can add details if you're quite confused. Please and thanks, I'd ask my parent, but they're kind of busy watching TV right now...so yeah. I'm using a XP..if that helps anything.

When somebody sends you a money request through PayPal and you pay how long does the transaction take for the money to be taken out of your account? I just paid a money request through PayPal to an Ebay seller and I found out I don't have enough money in my account. I'm also wondering what number is the Auction ID for any item purchased on Ebay. Really Apprecciate any help.

I am at home and I am trying to set up an FTP server to share some files of something I'm working on with some friends of mine to look at. I am using a 192.168 Private IP address and I am not quite sure I can set it up to allow someone on the other side of the router to have access to my FTP server... I also have no access to the router settings so I can't do anything with that... anyone have any suggestions?

if it helps I am using hughes net... yeah I know it's pretty crappy but it's all we can get up here...

Buying a new laptop so me and the wife can play warcraft at the same time. Does this sound like a good setup?

HP Pavilion dv6000t CTO NB
Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit)
Intel(R) Pentium(R) dual core T2080(1.73GHz/1MB)
15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
2GB (2 Dimm) Ram
256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
160 gig harddrive

I will be connecting wirelessly to a linksys wireless-g wrt54g broadband routed and sharing the internet connection between to computers playing warcraft at the same time.

The internet speed acording to http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests/ before being split is 1530kbps down and 418kbps up.

Will warcraft work good on two comps on one internet connection with this notebook?
