if i have my desktop computer in a room, and it is connected to a screen in a far away room. if i have an ethernet network installed in the house, and i need to run applications on that screen, can i just simply plug the mouse into the network (through a usb convertor or so) and control the computer from far away? please help

There are KVM switches which work over Ethernet to allow remote control of multiple systems. The downside is they aren't cheap, usually a couple of hundred bucks at least, compared to $20-$50 for traditional KVM boxes which connect via cables over a short distances.

Maybe check Ebay for a deal on a used one...
