OK- you should know what part of that means. My internet won't work, only on my computer, I'm on a laptop that DOES work. Anyway, no- my computer should not be filled up with viruses because it was just restored and back to normal again and it's behaving fine except..THE INTERNET WON'T WORK! It works on every other PC/laptops in the house though!! And it had worked just fine last week!

It has an X on the wireless icon thing, same with the local area connection. the little area on the taskbar. I have the little box thing with the plug and I re-plugged it but nothing worked.

Help? I can add details if you're quite confused. Please and thanks, I'd ask my parent, but they're kind of busy watching TV right now...so yeah. I'm using a XP..if that helps anything.

Although It does seem like you have disabled your network connections you should also verify a few other things.

1. check your LAN and WLAN device drivers to ensure use of the correct versions of firmware.

2. turn off your firewall until a connection is made between your wireless card and the router/access point you are attempting to use.

3. your wireless connection may not be using windows as the primary controller for your wireless configuration. Check the s/w that is installed in your list of programs for one that will match your wireless device.

4. you must have the wireless zero configuration(WZC) if windows is the controller for you wireless card.
To start this service hold the ctrl+r keys until the "run" box appears. in the box you will type "SERVICES.MSC". scroll down in the right pane until you see WZC. select it by using the right click function and then choose START from the pop-up menu.

Try rebooting in Safe Mode with Networking. If you're using a laptop, also try resetting the wireless card. Otherwise, check the driver settings for whatever brand product you use. Also, if you can't get on the internet, how did you get online to ask this question?

It sounds like you have disabled your network adapters.

Goto the control panel and open network connections.
Right click on the wireless network connection and select enable.
