I need to create a network drive that I link to the my computer folder on the desktop. I need this network drive so that I can save all of my picture and video projects. Is there any way to do this? Thanks again.

i'm probably stating the obvious, but it's worth mentioning that first you need a network - two or more computers linked via cables or wirelessly.

with that in place, you can share a folder or drive on one pc then create a link to that folder on the other pc by using 'tools' > 'map network drive' in any explorer window then choosing a drive letter and pointing to the folder.

yea first u need to put all the computer in ur house on the same workgroup and networked to each other. than on ur computer right click the folder u want to be the network drive and click sharing, n check the box that says share this folder on the network. then go arounf to the computer n right click on my computer n select map network drive n find the shared folder.

if you have another windows machine or a linux machine running samba you can right click on network places and map network drive and int he format as follows mount a shared folder to a drive letter.

\\192.168.0.x\user

on the other computer make sure their is a user account named user (or whatever you want ot use) set the password the same as the user account you are going to be using to make things easier. You can then right click my documents on desktop (or start-menu) and change it to point to this drive letter. this way all your docs, pics etc will save over the network.

that's the simple (if anything doens't go wrong) apprach, hwever if things do go wrong, you'll be up to your ears sorting out issues and being frustrated unless you have prior experience with networking concepts.
