If you have any shared folders which most machines have by default your computer is also "open" to him since you are on a private network system. There are identy thefts occurring from "open" networks and the scams are getting bigger by the day.

So you risk alot by doing what you are doing.
Not only that but I hope you are aware that connecting to any computer network which you do not own can be considered a felony. There have been several prosecutions lately. Just do a quick search on WiFi Theft to see.

If the owner wants to, they can gain access to your computer while you are on the unsecured network. And yes, they can see your every move on the interent if they wanted to.BTW, it is illegal to access someone's netowrk without thier permission.

Only if your browsing history folder is shared over the network.. or the owner is sitting at your computer.
