I have old/crappy belkin 'g' router and and I want to use it as an access point for DVR in living room (i'm guessing the Wii can connect to it wirelessly as well for a better connection). currently I use a 35' ethernet cable to connect to linksys router. The cable is too long to work with PS2 and I need something in between. Game adapters don't seem to work well so I guess I'm stuck running an ethernet cable to wireless access point.

ok, can I use the belkin router as a WAP (it has the function built in) with the linksys router? And do I need a crossover cable or standard ethernet?

If you can set your belkin to WAP (access point) mode. Then yes you just connect it to your linksys with a standard ethernet cable. You will need to setup the SSID and AP mode first.. turn off DHCP on the Belkin and let the linksys supply it.

35' of cable shouldn't be too long to work, normal Cat 5 ethernet is usually good to nearly 300 feet. (100 Meters).

the 35 foot cable is not to long. the 200+ foot before degradation is correct. you can connect two routers together using a regular cable. connnect the cable to the wan port in the belkin and the a regular port on the linksys. on the belkin just change the DHCP to lease 192.168.10.x numbers. this will give you the 2 networks. one the the belkin can forward to the linksys without having major problems.

We had a couple of Belkin 802.11g routers at a 2 or 3 years ago. As I recall, they could be put in into "access point"/"repeater" mode to so what you're suggesting. I don't recall the specifics tho
