Can I use VPN with DHCP. I assumed in order to dial into my computer desktop, I'd need my network ip address to be a static address.

Yes, you can use DHCP in your VPN network. First you should configure the VPN Box or Concentrator to pass the DHCP request by activating DHCP IPSEC relay agent. You may want to relay all DHCP request from VPN client to one DHCP server on your DMZ area (usually your Domain Controller server). So, that's how you configure the VPN using DHCP rather than static IP :)

Yes VPN works with both static and DHCP assigned IP Address.
See it really doesn't matter be it a DHCP or a static IP address. The assignment of the IP address is done only once when your ipconfig script suns during startup and/or when you repair/enable your LAN connection. after that the IP address can be more or less considered static in all respects.

You can use VPN with DHCP. Depending on the type of VPN, it may be a Layer 2, Layer 3, or maybe an even higher level device. If it's a layer 2 device, you should definitely be able to use DHCP.

Enjoy.

I concur. You need only know what your IP address is at the point in time you are using the VPN.
