Assuming you already have a wireless router, you'll need a wireless network interface card (NIC) for each PC. You want to secure your network by taking the following steps.

1. Enable WEP (Wireless Encryption Protocol).

2. Change the default SSID (Service Set ID) that ships with your wireless router.

3. Disable the "Ad-Hoc" mode, which enables a peer-to-peer network and that allows a user to connect with other wireless LAN cards. This opens the door for any hacker in wireless range to access your network.

4. Set up MAC Address filtering so only your PCs can access your wireless network.

5. Disable the "broadcast" mode so hackers have a harder time accessing your network.

Well if you're talking about your home you will need a wireless router (Cable or DSL router depending on your internet connection). Then you will need a wireless card for your PC. They make internal cards, or USB adapters. I would setup your wireless with an SSID and some type of security. The most common is probably WEP encryption (128bit).

What kind of computer? Desktop or laptop?

Wireless that you can use anywhere, provided by Sprint or Cingular (AT&T), or regular WIFI?

For WIFI, you just need to buy yourself a wireless router, and a wireless NIC (if your computer does not have one) setup the SSID, security settings, etc, make sure the router is hooked into your internet connection, and you are all set.

For a desktop you'll need a wireless adapter either USB or internal pci, linksys makes them. Once you've got the adapter installed simply look for available wireless networks with the adapter interface and connect to your router. If you didn't change anything in the router, it will show up as linksys for example if you own a linksys wireless router.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.getpchealthboost.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
