i want to develop program related networking using vb.net, but i dont know nothing, can you help me about it

I have an HP slimline 7220 desktop and was connected to the internet (Cox cable) when all of a sudden we couldn't connect anymore. I waited a couple of hours as I know Cox goes down every now & then & tried again & nothing. So I called Cox & we went through the usual turn off the modem & turn it back on again & likewise for the Lynkssystem router and still nothing. So the tech had me connect one computer (we have 2) to the modem & we connected fine (so the router may be bad??) anyhow I then connected the HP directly to the modem & nothing. I have tried connecting the different cables (RJ-45) to the HP & nothing, but using either cable to the e-machine connects right away...so it's not the modem or cables.. (also, I might mention that when looking behind the HP, where the modem cable is connected, you can see lights flashing----as in it's sending a signal to the computer---but the computer says "LAN--limited or no connectivity)...any suggestions???

hi all i know this is weird and maybe no one experienced this problem but what causes an ip address to change ???..my computer is configured to use a static ip address which is fixed (ex:192.168.1.1) and i have been using computer since long ago and I'm familiar with network but this is the first time experience sthg like this : my ip address changes on it's own causing the network and internet to be off line so every time this happens i have to re-enter my ip address and configure my network ....what causes this ...is this a virus knowing that i have symantec corporate edition and it's up to date and i have my firewall turned on ?? this is driving me nuts any help plz

my notebook doesnt show up on my routers DHCP list, can't be pinged from any of my other computers and can't be pinged using the routers ping feature. (i know im using the right IP). But, my notebook can ping the router and all of my other computers.
What's up??

hi dere.ok i wana ask.i am using wireless router.and its D-LINK.i have laptop and other user have computer.the wireless connection was really slow.so we both are using cables.now our computer and laptop are attached with router through wires.my question is,is there any chance that he can come in to my laptop and see my files which i have save in ma laptop or to se my online work throgh networking.if there is any chance?how can i protect my online work and all my files (system)?ohh yeah and my laptop's wireless switch iz off cous i am using cable.and we protected our router with password.can any body tell me abt it plz?
is it still any chance he can steal my information?.

What I mean is connecting the modem to all of my computers (with the filter) and then accessing the internet that way. Is it possible without the service? I've heard from some people that it is, but I want to be sure.

i bought a wirless router quite a long time ago but i want to use it now. i have the wireless router installed to myu computer but i lost the instalation CD. is tehre any way i can activate my wireless router with out the instalation cd? i used it before but stopped now i wanna go wireless agian cuase teh pc is in a different room. if so how do i activate it and if not my brand is D-Link and can i get anotehr cd free of charge cause i have the product but i dotn ahve the cd or do i have to to pay and buy anotehr one from a best buy?

In my laptop, I have a wireless card. We have high speed internet at my house, and that's how I connect to the internet. But last night and today, I cant connect. It says no connectivity. We reset the wireless router, unplugged everything, Ive reset mine a dozen times, and still nothing. Any ideas??? Im worried its something with my laptop, but I dont know what that would be. Ive restarted it a couple times, and had it off all last night. Any suggestions?

I have three computer on a network. Two are hardlined and one is connected to my wireless linksys router. The wireless computer is able to get onto the internet but since this morning for whatever reason it cannot communicate with the other hardlined computers. The two hardlined computer can comunicate with each other but not with the wireless computer. I check the router settings, and even set them back to the default settings. I also checked to make sure the shared folders were actually shared and apparently they are.

Note: I just checked the network with a different wireless laptop and the network works and the laptop communicates with both hardlined desktops. The wireless desktop however does not show up in My Network Places. This is very bothersome and I would appreciate any help that can be offered to my complicated question.

I have just bought a HP C7180 All-in-one printer. The main reason being that it said it was wireless. But, it will not connect wirelessly to my network. I have a Thomson/Speedtouch 580 router (from Tiscali) and I have 1 desktop and up to 3 laptops connected to it which all work fine (wireless). When I try to set up the printer using the network wizard (on the printer) it finds my network, I type in the WPA-PSK passcode, then it says it cannot connect. I have set up the printer mac code on the ACL on the router to allow the printer to connect but still no joy. I tried reducing the security level to WEP and it worked fine, however I prefer the higher security. I have now connected the printer to the router with a cable and that works but the printer is in the wrong place and the whole point was to be wireless. I have tried HP website and phone and they were useless. Nothing on the Speedtouch website either. Anyone got any advice - should I be able to do this or am I dreaming?

My 4-month old laptop has wi-fi capabilities, and I would like to use it when I travel. However, I have discovered that in every single airport I've tried to use it in (USA only, so far), it detects the public networks, but it won't connect because they're evidently ad-hoc networks. No problem borrowing the neighbor's network. No problem using some other public networks (i.e., Panera, my office building, etc). This problem also exists on my 8 month old Palm Life Drive. Any suggestions?
