setup another static ip... the one you're using is your router's default ip, and you can't have the same ip twice on a single network

try something like 192.168.1.5

Then you have a dynamic IP address. If you need or want static IP call ISP and request it. Don't be surprised if they charge 20 a month extra with a 35 connect fee to do so.

If you don't have a router your anti-spam software may be resetting your IP address to 127.0.0.1 so that it can intercept your emails and cull out the spam. An earlier version of McAfee's antispam software did this. Gave my sister a fit as she would have to reset the receiving address in her email facility every time she wanted to receive emails. McAfee corrected the "bug" in their latest version.

Since I have a router my IP address, to my computer, is always 127.0.0.1 (home) and I don't have that problem.

if youre using a wireless connection to connect, maybe its connecting to another network then when your reenter the ip address and the default gateway it returns to your network. if your running a wired connection, check the settings for your router or modem, you might have changed it so that your isp has control of your ip address
