I have a 2 meg leased line for my broadband connection and was wondering...

Is it quicker to use the broadband connection to remotely connect to another PC using Webex (a remote desktop web application) or a 56k modem connection for MS Remote Desktop?

is it right to say that after buying and installing a router, i can connect more than one laptop to the internet without cable at the same time? do i need to pay extra $$ to my network provider? does it even have anything to do with them?

I purchased a $40.00 Belkin router and $45.00 wireless notebook card this weekend so that I could network the desktop and laptop computers. I have road runner service with a cable modem. Since they have been hooked up I have noticed the computers are lagging quite a bit, especially the laptop. Before the router was connected I only had the desktop connected to the internet and it almost never lagged. I think it is probable that the router is the cause of the lag. Would upgrading to a broadband router help a lot? They had a Linksys (sp?) broadband router for $130.00 but we didn't think we needed one that expensive. Any suggestions?

I am looking for a program that will allow us email communications through an office network system that is not connected to the internet, thus allowing office members to communicate among each other (hopefully with an in-box, sent-box) but not through the internet, just an intranet (internal) communication on windows xp and 98 machines run through a switch, hub, or router if necessary, thanks !

Okay so i'm getting a DSL connection. I want to share my connection with another PC in my house. I thought of a LAN connection but the downside is that if the main PC is off, I can't use the internet on the other. How else can I connect my PCs? Will router come of use here?
please help. thanx

I am tired of Comcast and casting around trying to figure out altneratives...that are less expensive without moving me into the dark ages in terms of performance. No option in my area for fibre. We use the computer for Pogo, music download, music bridge to my stereo and general browsing.

it says "ip address conflict with another system on the network". i have 4 computers at home, 3 are wireless, and the one i'm using is hard wired to the router. the set-up at my house has been the same, as far as the network and computers go for the past year and i just started getting this message about a week ago. it's not giving me any problems tho. i'm not having any connection issues w/ any of the computers. connection is constant. i'm just curious why i'm getting that message and i guess i want that message to stop popping up cuz it's annoying. anyone know?

Before high speen internet, the net started getting slower. Now that there are faster versions from internet providers, is it possible for the businesses to start slowing the high speed down so we will order the faster version? Are you finding that your internet is coming on slower?
