I have a 2 meg leased line for my broadband connection and was wondering...

Is it quicker to use the broadband connection to remotely connect to another PC using Webex (a remote desktop web application) or a 56k modem connection for MS Remote Desktop?

Obviously anything using your lease line is going to be faster than using a modem. Whoever suggested using a modem should be sacked from their job immediately. However I agree with the other answerers that it isn't a fair comparison, you should be comparing remote desktop and webex using the same medium.

I just prefer to use Remote Desktop. But what I am curious about is why you are comparing one product on a broadband connection to another using dial-up. Remote Desktop works great with a broadband connection. Cant give you a comparison of the two because I havent used Webex.

Why can't you use the broadband connection for Remote Desktop? That would seem to be the best of both worlds.

Try using a free program called TightVNC. very easy to set up. Another program to try is GoToMeeting. It is a pay service like WebEx just a lot cheaper for price. If you are in need of transferring files then I would look at the TightVNC program.

I would say neither. I personally use a free program from http://www.logmein.com that is the best I have found so far. Hope this helps
