is it possible to connect a hifi with one aux jack(no other inputs or outputs ) , to a wireless home network using some kind of wireless connector, i have thought about it, but the only i can see is to connect the hifi jack to headphone jack on the computer and that means a lot of unsightly cable

I am not sure... I think you can connect a bye bye to a sye sye though

Yes you can. You need a device called an network audio bridge. See the link below. It will work with your wired or wireless network and pull music from your computers and play them in your stereo.

I assume you want to stream music to your HIFI (mp3's), i would recommend a device like a Netgear MP101, i have one, it looks like a HIFI component and it allows you to upload all you CD's to your computers then acces them from the media play. Itworks a treat, and you can also get the equivelant for video too.
