put a wireless device on the pc with the Internet and bridge the computer and let the laptop to share the Internet connection.

lol dont listen to them about getting a router
the easiest thing to do is to configure your computer to begin a new network... then when you connect your computers together via LAN cable or network cable then all you have to do is right click the connection and click properties...then what you do is click the TCP protocol thingy...and properties on that then you change your ip address on your laptop by deselecting choosing the ip address automatically then chane the manual configuration to 198.168.0.1 then on your desktop changge the ip address to 198.168.0.2 then you should have internet on both of them any more questions email me or mess me

Get a router it is the easiest thing to do.
