How secure r Internet connection while usin wireless router?

sorry.lets start again.
hi dere.ok i wana ask.i am using wireless router.and its D-LINK.i have laptop and other user have computer.the wireless connection was really slow.so we both are using cables.now our computer and laptop are attached with router through wires.my question is,is there any chance that he can come in to my laptop and see my files which i have save in ma laptop or to se my online work throgh networking.if there is any chance?how can i protect my online work and all my files (system)?ohh yeah and my laptop's wireless switch iz off cous i am using cable.and we protected our router with password.can any body tell me abt it plz?
is it still any chance he can steal my information?.

Its possible through dos, using the runas command, so make sure you are password protected on all files, remote assistance off etc

If your wireless connection on your computer is turned off, then there's no way anyone can access your laptop wirelessly.

Now, there is a way for someone on your wired network to see stuff on your computer, but only if:
1) Your firewall is configured to allow another IP address to access your machine (shouldn't, by default).
2) you've allowed sharing on your files (also not allowed, by default).

So unless you somehow configured your machines to be able to access each others' files in the past, the other user shouldn't be able to see the files on your machine since a good firewall will block out all intruders (by default), and you have to have consciously turned on Sharing to one of your folders in the past.

well, he can access your PC through that network, wireless or otherwise, if you make files or other things available to him either by sharing them or by giving him a password. It's like he was sitting at your PC - if he can switch it on and log in when at the keyboard, he can do things when merely connected by network cable.

If he's a real deviant he could install something to watch your network traffic through the router and count how many porn photos you download. You both have access to the router after all. That would take a bit of effort though. Can he be bothered?

so your asking if the other computer within your network can steal or see whatever your doing in the internet?? the answer is yes if you enable the file sharing for both computer but if not.. no they cant do that.. they'll be needing your permission as a computer admin to do that..
