my parents are going to be me a new computer but it is up to me if i want a laptop or a desktop. i dont know which one should i get. i am a high school 10th grade student that the computer every day since i get out of school until i go to bed. please help me decide would you prefer a laptop or desktop. thank you.

i know if u have a lot of programs, it takes a long time to load. but my computer takes SO LONG to just get to the screen where i have to enter my password. and its only my account on there so its not because of too many users. any ideas?

Whenever I try to open up the Recycle bin, My Computer or any folders on my desktop, the screen goes blank for a couple of seconds, and comes back without the folder open. Why is this happening?!?!? I have either Windows XP or 2000, no Vista, and this just started happening.

This guy, signing in as MichaelWolfe18, has been IMing me but it is so obvious that he is trying to run a scam: he says he's in Africa and needs help getting back home, could I cash some money orders for him or even usps fast cash money, or some crap like that - it's actually funny (unless he's hacking my puter). Anyway, how can I report his name to Yahoo as a potential scammer to warn others of this name (even though he can just dump this name and get another, but at least I will have made some type of inconvenience for him)? Anyone? Thanks.

I was checking out A/V programs to see which suits me the best and I came across this one. I went to the main website and noticed that you have to pay in order to use it. Either every 1 month or 2 months. Anyone that uses it I was wondering what happens if you don't pay it. Would the program still work and detect the viruses? What is the payment for?

For a couple of days it's not working properly. I have to click on the left button 3-4 times in order to open a link, it seems as if it's broken or something (and I know it's not). I've tried changing settings, but it's still the same, I have to press the left button hard in order for it to work. Can someone tell me what could be the problem and how to fix it? Is it time to get a new mouse?

I answered a guy from Craigslist when i posted an ad looking for a cheap place to rent who said that he's give me his place in return for looking after it and "doing some business" for him, especially running checks he'd receive through my bank account. I said I didn't like the idea, but did send him my full name and address via email, and then was told by a friend that it is in fact a scam.

I didn't furnish any bank info of birthday or Soc. Sec number, but it occurs to me that the guy's trick is yto go to the post-office and file a change of address in my name and receive my mail, including credit-card bills, checks and so on.

This happened yesterday: what to do now?

recently my laptop has been acting really weird. All of the short cuts including the status bar, are completely gone. i have tried clicking on the screen, and taking out the battery. i have also tried to restart it and shut it down, but it wont do either. it just stays on the blank blue screen.

any ideas on whats wrong with it and how to fix it?
any suggestions would be helpful!
