I was wondering if I'd notice much difference in my daily PC playing, Mostly world of warcraft, Crysis, Guitar Hero 3, UT3, etc. I was looking to Upgrade my CPU from an AMD Socket 939 3700 San Diego single Core, to an AMD socket 939 X2 4200 dual core.

Heres my current Setup:

AMD 3700 San Diego, Single Core
1 gig Corsair value Select PC 3200 ram
Western Digital 80 gig HD
XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 320 ram

...to have less memory than stated ?

For example, I just bought a 350 GB seagate freeagent HD.I checked the disc space on my pc but the capacity's down to 298 GB !!! Can someone tell me if this is defective or something?

I'm 79, not in the best of health, so my computer is my link with the outside. I enjoy making CD's/DVD's from my old cassettes and also like working with old family photographs.
This year, I would like to buy an inexpensive Inkjet Printer, that has the added facility of being able to print photographs/pictures/clip art, in colour, directly onto CD's and DVD's and it must also of course be capable of normal colour and b/w printing.
What make and model do you recommend?
Have you had personal experience of the inkjet printer you recommend?

It just occurred to me a little while ago that I hadn't deleted temporary and cached files on my computer in a long time, but I wanted to make sure I had copies of certain documents first so I did a search for all files called "temporary." Well, that pulled up a list of more than a hundred file folders with "temporary" in the folder name, but as you can figure it's going to be a pain to go through each individual folder. It's been a long time since I've searched for ONLY temporary files, and so I'm spinning my wheels trying to figure this out. How can I get a list of all of the temp files, not just the folders containing them? I'm using Windows XP.

Also, how can I search the cache in Firefox for files as well before I clear out the history?

i'v changed my motherboard 4m compaq 2 hp due to som reason.n previously 8MB ws assignd 2 graphics,bt now 32 MB is assignd. as i'v only 256MB of RAM,so my laptop became slow compatively. so plz if u kno hw 2 assign less memory 2 graphics n get back the RAM,dn plz reply..........

Ok, I'm at a loss on this one. Machines on my network are able to browse my printers and scheduled tasks folder - I don't want these folders to be visible OR accessed. Here is what my configuration looks like:

● Simple file sharing is unchecked.
● Default administrative shares are disabled by this guide: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288164
● Computer Management -> System Tools -> Shared Folders -> Shares show nothing but my specific shared folders and the IPC$
● I've also deleted the entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace "{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}" AND "{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}" from this guide: http://www.mcse.ms/message680751.html

...but these 2 damn folders STILL SHOW UP when a machine on the network attempts to browse the host. HOW CAN I DISABLE THEM???

I recently bought a second hand flat bed scanner, I am not sure of the brand but is does say color scantak spot tech. I plugged it into my pc without a problem but it doesn't power up. I assume I have to plug it into a power point but I can not find anywhere to connect a power cord. Has anyone got any idea?

first i did an online test at crucial,they recomended a upgrade,ordered 2* 1gb 240-pin dimm 128*64 ddr2 pc2-4200 unbuffered for my compaq presario sr 1909uk system,i i removed my 512 memory,and installed both the new chips,trouble is my system only see 1gb,i swapped them round so i know they both work,i did plenty of research so i did not mess up,my bios is up to date,i contacted crucial via email this morning,but with it being the busy season it will be new year before they can answer my email,just wanted to know if you have any ideas of what i missing with this one,cheers guys and girls. I've reset the ip, I've called the service technition. My eithernet worked before I went away on vacation but now it does not seem to want to connect to anything.

Says it is connected but is not recieving packets. Can not get a responce when pining the modem or router even though it is plugged in.

What do I do?

thing is, XP can be installed properly,but it will either hang at the login screen, or 5 sec after i ve logged in. i ve tried using different sets of RAM (tried 3 pairs) but it remains the same. plugged the hdd to another computer and it ran fine... now i am really unsure wat is the problem here. hope someone can enlighten me

I do plan to multi-task with this computer, but it would only be things such as Firefox, Windows Media Player, and other low-demand applications. They are both AMD Athlon 64.

What's the input syntax, so i will have a box,
like a search box, where i can key in various input numbers.
And when i click "calculate" it will echoes E.

What i mean is to have a web page, with an input box and calculate button.
And when pressed will automatically shows the result.

if you need to reset your laptop back to factory settings, how do you do it please? the reason why i ask is because on my laptop on windows xp i had the vaio recovery tool so i could reset it back to factory settings and just put my programs in. now i have upgraded to windows vista with a custom install and have put all the divers and utilities etc from the discs sony sent me but their was no vaio recovery tool on the discs. they don't have that tool they said for vista. so if anything goes wrong i cannot reset it to start at the beginning with all the drivers in, i have to keep puttung the xp boot disc in and do all the updates and then install vista and do all them updates everytime. aaaaghhh!!!! what a nightmare. any ideas? thanks in advance
