I recently bought a second hand flat bed scanner, I am not sure of the brand but is does say color scantak spot tech. I plugged it into my pc without a problem but it doesn't power up. I assume I have to plug it into a power point but I can not find anywhere to connect a power cord. Has anyone got any idea?

Most fairly recent entry level basic scanners are powered off the USB bus ... so no external mains power is required ... I have a canon that is nearly 10 yrs old (old but faithful) which only requires a USB connection ... make sure that the "Unlock" tab on the scanner is UNLOCKED (Could be a little switch underneath or a circular looking dial with a slot in it so you can use a coin to turn it)... otherwise it will refuse to do anything

yea you need an ac/dc power adapter if as you state you pluged the scanner into your pc and nothing happened then you need a power plug.

some scanners dont need a plug they draw power right from the pc.

like the canon LIDE30 takes its power right from the pc.
