I've reset the ip, I've called the service technition. My eithernet worked before I went away on vacation but now it does not seem to want to connect to anything.

Says it is connected but is not recieving packets. Can not get a responce when pining the modem or router even though it is plugged in.

What do I do?

Well, some logical trouble shooting.
1. Have you rebooted everything? Start by killing the power to the modem, the router, and turn off your computer.
1a. After removing power wait 1 full minute or more. Then replug the MODEM and wait for it to reboot. Just watch and wait for all the lights to settle down - usually 1-3 minutes.
1b. Restart the router (if it is separate from the modem) connect power and wait for it to "settle" usually about 1-2 minutes.
1c. Restart your machine. once booted see if the problem is gone. (IN almost 95% of situations like yours this will fix the issue) The procedure above is the correct order, anything else may not work.

2. If this does not work, remove the router from the system and connect your computer directly to the modem. See if it works, if it does your router has decided to go on vacation and well you need a new one. If it still doesn't work, your cable, ethernet card/computer, or the modem is at fault.

3. still have an issue, get help, call a real tech to come out and check your system.

Hi there,

First check whether u get an IP by start-->run-->cmd. U will get the command prompt and then type ipconfig. This will display your IP address. Make your u have dynamic IP and not Static.
try pinging the gateway IP that's your routers IP.
r it could be just a cable prob. Try changing the cable.

GoodLuck,
