The most important thing is to turn the computer off. Don't type with the keys that are stuck. On a laptop, if the keys get wet underneath from typing they will short out and never work again without serious, costly repairs.

Turn the computer off, remove the sticking keys and let it dry for a few hours to start. Then you can try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol to make sure it dried.

Pop off the keys and use a qtip with rubbing alcohol or water (damp not soaking). On some keyboards the key posts have detents on them and a pair of small needle nose pliers or jewellers screwdriver can be used to raise them back up (do not use too much pressure or marr the posts). Clean the posts individually. All has to be cleaned or they'll stick again. Some will need to be worked to nopt stick again.

If this does not work, take to a notebook repair shop to tear down the system and clean it in pieces. This is not an inexpensive option, but does work.

Hi,

To be honest the best thing to do is buy a new keyboard, they are really cheap these days.

Otherwise disconnect the keyboard and take it apart and clean the keys and the contacts.

When I change a keyboard I always keep the old one as a spare just in case I do the same sort of thing.

So buy 2 and keep one as a spare.

Oh noes! That was the worst thing you could have done. Accidents happen but I havent ever dropped a drink in my laptop. I treat it like a king. I pray to my laptop 5 times a day. You will need to find the breakdown of your laptop from HP. It will tell you how to break it down step by step. This is not the place to give that to you. There are so many different types of HP pavillions btw. Just take it apart and use some laptop cleaning solution. Edit: Although you can pop it off, you may want to clean anything else that is in there too. That is why I suggested to break it down.

Let the key board dry . Then go to radio shack . Buy some electronic cleaner spray it on then LIGHTY clean the board with a soft cloth and a Q tip.
Some cheap key boards cant handle a cleaning or the milk but if you go easy and clean it gently you should be ok

You can usually pop the keys (carefully) and clean the key and the keyboard underneath. Don't pour any cleaning liquid on the keyboard though. Q-tips work really well for this.

Many keyboards are easily taken apart and cleaned. If not, buy another. I use a $7 keyboard from wal-mart since I go through 2-3 a year from drinks spilling in them.... Hmmm I wonder ifI will ever learn.

i've had this problem before ....first take a vaccum to the key board so u can suck out all that is under the keys, like crumbs, dust , etc.. then take rubbing alchol on a q-tip and gently wipe aropund the keys... it should get them loose again, then the stubburn ones will become easier to use after a little time...it's kinda like syrup or dried up pop.

Keys come off. The problem is you let it touch underneath. Cleaning that area of the keyboard is best done by pros.
