i have a palm pda and was impressed tht i could put linux in it

but i wonder
1. what makes it great
2. what exactly is it? (appart from being an operating system) like is there really more than one? which one to choose? etc etc

I recently installed the 32-bit version of openSUSE on a AMD Sempron 3600+. Before bothering installing the 64-bit version in stead I'm thinking about running a few tests to rerun on the 64-bit install and then compare the systems.

Just about the only idea I have is compressing and uncompressing very large amounts of data and time it. Any other suggestions? Windows has plenty of geeky software for this type of thing, but how about a Linux thing? Preferably with a neat RPM.

I am new to Visual Basic 6 and i am trying to do an application that has to have a password in order to work.

My problem is that i want to type password in an input box but i want the input to be an "*" rather than the normal character input. Can anyone help to find out how to change the input of the input box to "*"?

when i turn on my computer sometime it take me to a blue screen and said crash dump at the bottom the text. it restart by itself and everything goes fine, but it take a long time to restart it. the computer said it's caused by ati graphic driver but they don't have a solution yet. please help my computer is acer aspire 5100 with vista and the graphic card is ati radeon xpress 1100

I keep getting prompt upates are ready for your computer but fails to install.
I cant understand the download size is 0kb and connection speed is 0 minutes, how is it possible.
My second why is it on this site the language occasionally changes language to chinese at random, I press the back button and resumes in English. This is making me very nervious because I once had my PC raiderd from an email sent to me in a chinese languge resulting loosing every page I was working on.

I have Yahoo Anti-Spy. It's not my primary but I do run it periodically just for s---ts and giggles. It always finds adware called "Searchnet", but can't remove it. None of my other anti-spyware programs finds it. Any ideas or info?

My memory is almost full ( 1% left!!!) Three days ago I had 3% left, I desinstalled heavy programs from computer ( msn messenger, canon suite etc..) hoping to get some space but instead I have less. What happened?

My laptop has 2 RAM slots of 1GB capacity each. It came with only 512 MB RAM and one empty RAM slot. I purchased and installed addtional 1GB RAM with the following specifications 1GB Laptop 200pin PC2700 DDR333 SODIMM. After installing the RAM, laptop started correctly and the chip was recognised. But after 5 minutes, the system crashed after a memory allocation failure.

Attempts to restart the laptop resulted in BIOS failure and system hang with a shimmering onscreen display.

I did not try to remove the original RAM chip from its slot, fearing that the computer may not start altogether.

The laptop works fine without the new RAM chip, but not with it. I have rechecked the technical specifications of the chip, these match with those specified by the manufacturer.

Please can someone help resolve the problem? Many thanks in advance for your help.

The battery on my laptop is totally DOA after just two years, apparently because I hadn't been letting it run totally out of power before recharging it to full power, but it got me to thinking, are there any solar-powered adapters that would work for laptops, or would my laptop require so much power to make the idea of a solar-powered adapter out of the question?

For the record, I've got a Compaq Presario M2000. I've had it a little over two years. Are newer laptop models much more efficient in terms of power usage or demand?
