All FTP clients will basically "configure" the same way.
With the Hostname (the server you want to connect into)
the username (whatever username you need to use to connect)
the password (your password for the server)
some servers allow "anonymous" as the user name and "password" as the password but most these days require an authorized user name (those that are open will say what name to use generally.)
once those are entered you simply click the connect button on th e client.
Once connected, you can indeed select as many files from the server as you want to download and just click the "transfer" button or simply "drag" the files to your machine.
Most clients show your machine on one side (or top or bottom) of the open FTP program and the server in the other blank. All the selected files will transfer. (They actually will transfer one after the other, not all at the same time, but all in one easy session!)

If ur purpose is simple file downloading, then u dont need FTP client. Even Internet Explorer will do this job for you.
Or use any download software like Free Download Manager.

Well you can do the same thing with IE or Firefox no need for an ftp client. FTP clients are good for website file transfers if you have your own website, it's much easier and quicker.
