You would get an odd phone call. A few tones, no voices, then it would hang up.

I have a decicated number for my fax. Verizon calls it "identi-ring" When someone is sending me a fax my phone rings 2 short rings. My fax is set up to pick up on that ring pattern. It cost me about 4 bucks a month. Now if you don't want to use a special number you can pick up your phone when it rings when you hear the fax tones, immediately press the black, send, or start button on your fax. It will pick up the call. That is how I used to do it before I did not have this special number. I can't remember if I had to change a setting in my fax to do that or not. I am sure your fax manufactuer will be able to help you set if up, if needed.

Yes, it is possible. You know it's an incoming FAX when you hear the "squealing sounds Faxes make. Just hang up and hope the sender machine will redial.

To learn how to set up a FAX on Windows, go to Help & Support and search for FAX.

TIP: Turn off your answering machine.
