MS Word 2003 is sweet! but I wouldn't get the new one, it's totally different and it sucks I think :)
If you are looking for a very cheap or free alternative, you can use Open Office or Word Perfect, but I would suggest using Open Office first because it's free online.
You can also try purchasing your MS Word program from your local software wholesaler, who may have a student discount if you have a college ID or student ID. Microsoft often has sales on them or prices for college students you can take advantage of.
Good Luck!

I am a college student and I use Microsoft Office 2007 - A 60 day free trial is available on their site.
The program is great though. Not only does it have spell and grammer check, there are pre-set cover sheets with neat designs.
I hope this helps

The best is by far the student edition of Microsoft Word. The 2007 has a great thesaurus, bookmark and editing tools, and more. You'll love it. Very user-friendly

Absolutely can't beat Wod.
If you don't have it, or can't afford to buy it, you can download some freeware which is supposed to be similar to the Office package.
