Well the first answer may be your best answer.
Move the cursor to far bottom, top, left, right and see if the task bar pop-up then click and drag where you want it. It turned on to do this in your settings? The icons may have been deleted and need re-set.
Depending on your OS, we will say Windows Xp, just do a restore back to before this happen.
I want to warn you about system restore. Say you installed a program today and you restore back a week ago. That program may stop working and need re-installed! Hope you understand.

Try a system restore.
Put in your windows install cd, and follow the instructions to "repair" windows.
If that doesn't work, and you don't have any important data, you can put in the windows install cd and follow instructions on how to "reformat" and reinstall windows. This will wipe the harddrive, but it will return the computer to the state you bought it in.

what you should do is, hit the windows button on the keyboard, then go to all programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, the after that go to System Restore.
Follow the steps to go up a few days when your laptop was working good, everything should ok after that.
if u need more help email me.
