Whenever I try to open up the Recycle bin, My Computer or any folders on my desktop, the screen goes blank for a couple of seconds, and comes back without the folder open. Why is this happening?!?!? I have either Windows XP or 2000, no Vista, and this just started happening.

Sounds like you are due for a Windows repair. Get out the CD.
