Well if button don't work properly, probably it's mouse fault.
As PC mouse cheap these days get a new one.
If you can find a mouse from a friend so you can test another mouse, before you go buy one, could be great, cause that way you can tell if it's mouse fault ,or USB or PS/2 port, (depending where you connect your mouse.)
Best of Luck

just get a new mouse, if you dont know exactly what you're doing its not wise to take apart any part of a computer. The sensor in the left button is probably broken/misfunctioning so just go buy a 10$ mouse from best buy and throw out the garbage.

Click START, then SETTINGS, then CONTROL PANEL. Open the MOUSE icon. Use the settings to change the speed and sensitivity of the buttons.

Is it a cordless mouse? Mine would do the very same thing when the battery was about dead.
If it's a corded mouse, I do believe that it's time for a new one.

It is time for a new one. If it is the ball type you can take the ball out and clean all the built up dust out of it.. This may help a bit until you can get to the store.
