I have a question regarding page file. I know that page file is virtual memory saved in your HD that the computer uses which acts as extra RAM if your current RAM is already used up.

I have 512mb ram and my page file says 301mb(it says in the windows task manager), does it mean that my ram is using up 301mb or does it mean that I already used up 512mb RAM and my computer is using 301mb more as pf? Please try to answer in simple terms. 8D

Oh and another question is what is physical memory. Can someone explain what Physical memory (k):
Total:523808 <-- does this indicate my total ram?
Available:134712
System cache:304124 <-- what is this and why is it so high

I posted this in the wrong section and got no answers so I'm reposting this. I was typing on my laptop when all of the sudden the key popped out. I kept trying to put it back on but the key didn't work as good as it did before. I took it off again and noticed that the little tan part under the key was broken. I examined it and tried to put it back but it would work. I realized that it's just the little tan part that is the problem. So my question is: where can I get a new piece to connect me key. If you don't know what this is I'm sorry but I don't know what to look for or what it's called. Please help.

Thanks for the answers I received from my first question " Dell Server upGrade? " Now, my problem is that I am attempting to install a fresh Windows 2000 Server Version and my C: drive is not found and the installation is cancelled....Do I need to replace the drive [the original is just 3g] before I can install? I have no problems doing this but I want to proceed slowly and not waste any efforts...thanks again rroe_77

I have a user with a problem in which Internet Explorer automatically opens .csv files (Excel) in the IE window. There used to be a popup when you went to download the file that asked if you wanted to Open or Save it. He must have unchecked the box that said to "always ask before opening this type of file." I want to get that back.

I have already tried 3 different fixes:

1. The Registry entry "Excel.Sheet.8" in HKCU. I deleted it...this fix works on another computer, but not this one for some reason.

2. I have tried going to Folder Options and then File Types and then the Advanced button and checked/unchecked the "Confirm open after download" checkbox. This didn't work either.

3. I have removed and reinstalled Internet Explorer. This didn't work either.

Is there anything else I can try other than swapping out the computer for a new one?

Hi.

One of mouse mouse buttons were 'sticky' when pressing it. I gave it a bath in water. Will this help the clicking? Is my mouse dead now? Will a get a shock if I try to use it again?

i've been using NIS for some time now and in general I'm quite satisfied with its performance. The only thing it slows down my internet speed and also it seems to be blocking certain sites from opening. Has anybody experienced this, and will changing to another product like McAfee or Zonealarm remediate tis problem? Thanks for your help!

hey i'm not going to type an essay i've posted many things on here and nothing has helped me my pc is going downhill, been going on for weeks and weeks first started with pop up message saying corrupt files or folders or programs and then windows bad image on lots of stuff and blue screens and dll missing stuff etc a windows message coming up sayin 50 seconds before windows shuts down and all that i have good security as in anti-spyware/virus programs and firewall and registry cleaner etc and i've had the computer since summer 2005 i got a new hard drive in recent months with 233GB i have not changed the ram yet after all that time which i think is not good but i dunno wat to do anymore i've installed fresh copies of xp on disk it only lasts sumtimes a week or less or mayb more before screwing up again what can i do to finally resolve this? new ram? new drive AGAIN? a technician to come look at it? please help

Yup, I'm infected. It's an annoying virus that automatically changes my screensaver to a link that will probably give me more viruses. It also canges my homepage to another virusy link, as well as causing pop-ups that pop up every five minutes or so that link to even more virusy links. I've even found suspicius files and tried deleting them, but they always keep re-appearing somehow. I ran AVG... didn't solve the problem. If you can help me solve this problem, I'd be extremely grateful.

sometimes , usually when i am watching a music videos on windows media player the video goes all jumpy and then the computer restarts itself. When it comes back on it says 'The system has recovered from a serious error.' but gives no more infomation, it has been happening quite frequently recently and im quite concerned. I have lived with friends my whole life and never had to worry about setting up internet. Now, I find myself about to move into an old apartment (100 years old). I have an IBM labtop (built 2001). I will be living in a studio in Baltimore. I want affordable but fast connection.
